[Lancer probably looked a little worse for wear today; he was more than a little bruised, with bandages covering the worst of countless scrapes and scratches as well as what looked like a splint on his right arm. Despite that, he seemed to be in pretty high spirits--that fight six days ago had been a rematch he'd wanted for a very long time.]

Heh--it's about time I had a good fight around here. [A Houndour walked onscreen and sat down next to him with a yawn, regarding her trainer with a 'what an idiot' sort of look.] Hope nobody in Violet minded that wake-up call a few days ago.

[This is not the face of someone that's going to make any apologies for his crazy offspring.]

Now that we've settled that for now, what else do you humans usually do for fun these days?

How well do you know how to treat broken limbs? Do you have medical training?

Medical training? Not in the slightest. But I've had far worse than a broken arm in the past, and all that healed just fine.

Allowing things to heal on their own with no medical intervention could have dire effects.

You don't need to be so concerned. I've lived long enough to know what I'm doing. Hell, back in my era we didn't have anything near the level of your doctors now.

Connla? [she feels like she's heard that name somewhere before... but her mythology isn't strong enough to recognize it right off the bat]

Yeah, he's my kid. About your age, give or take a few years--he's the smartass that charged right into the city demanding a fight with me.

I see... and he's here, in Johto? You're lucky.

Lucky? [Huh. His luck was usually abysmal, but he could see her point.] You're probably right. I hadn't seen him in years.

[Exactly how many years, he doesn't say. That'd be a whole confusing bit about whether the time Lancer was basically dead counted or not.]

I definitely never expected to see him again, to say the least.

I can imagine it's nice to have a family member you can rely on in this strange world. I'm glad for you.

...Honestly? I think he might end up relying on me a lot more than the other way around. Poor kid's got no idea how your modern era's supposed to work.

[He wasn't the best with it either, but at least he had some knowledge to work with.]

He wasn't given the same opportunity you were to adjust to modern technology?

Not exactly. There's some kind of complicated circumstances involved with me that he didn't have to deal with.

May I ask, or is that a private matter?

You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you. Even by Johto's standards, my story is pretty strange.

[she chuckles] You may be surprised.

...Can you keep a secret?

I mean it--can you tell absolutely no one about what I'm going to say?

[there's a beat, but it's out of surprise, not because she doesn't know how to answer the question]

Yes, I can.

I'm what's called a Servant--a heroic spirit summoned into a different age by magic in order to fight in a war between magi for the Holy Grail. 'Lancer' isn't my name, it's my class as a Servant. The power of the Grail itself helps a heroic spirit's Master maintain the summoned hero's existence.

In the same line of thought, the Grail's magic gives Servants enough knowledge of the era and country they're summoned into to prevent a language barrier and some serious culture shock. In other words, I know the basics of the current time Johto seems to be using--enough to seem like a relatively modern human.

Connla, however, was summoned directly from our home country and era. So he's a little...'fish out of water', I think the phrase is.
